Does it annoy you when sport commentators use 'quarter' & 'period' interchangably?

I am less annoyed when they use period instead of quarter (i.e. football & basketball), but it annoys me to no end when they use quarter instead of period (i.e. Hockey).

You can't say quarter when there's only 3 periods!

Don't remember, but heard it on a couple of occasions... probably they are too used to calling Football/Basketball
