Does increasing my USB Polling Interval slow transfer rates?

In my registry editor I set my USB Polling Interval to 5ms instead of 1ms. Because it dosnt detect for new devices as often does this mean that it will also slow my USB transfer rates? I am just wondering...

Thank you!

If anything, I'd say your transfer rates could improve since the bus is no longer having to stop to check for new devices as often, so fewer interruptions occur. However, I don't think it actually "stops" for that anyway, it just uses a subchannel dedicated to "maintenance" functions like that.

Not like USB ever gets near it's peak rates anyway.

Why are you changing options when you don't know what it will do?

How else does one learn anything if they don't try things?

vetteguy: I generally do some learning before attempting things, rather than just changing options that I don't know anything about. Obviously he did learn something about it, but I wouldn't have gone in and changed it unless it really made a difference on my system, especially if I was concerned about the performance afterward.
