Does IDE RAID make a difference in the real world?

I was wondering if say two IBM 60GXP's were stripped in RAID 0, would it provide any visible difference in load times than if I were to have just a single drive? Sometimes in reviews people talk about having things load maybe a second faster, but for me currently this does not warrant the extra price. If anyone could tell me their opinions it would be greatly appreciated. Also should I upgrade my ATA 33 hard drives to ATA 133 or wait a few more months for Serial ATA?

For everyday home usage of games, internet explorer, a few office apps etc. the difference is extremely minimal.

If you have two alike drives (In size and make) then, yes! In stripping mode itll dramatically increase your hard drive transfer rates. Now if your hard drive transfer rates matter to what you do with your PC is a different metter. If your into heavy gaming, then the answer is....... Fast=Better. Yay.

we could argue this until we are blue in the face, raid0, done correctly can speed up i/o transfers ... check out some REAL reviews, and articles at http://www.storagereview.com might also want to look into reading more about raid technology, to get a better understanding, a guide is over at that site also, good luck..
