Does IBM require a reciept for an RMA?

Title says it. I am looking to pick up a couple of SCSI drives, but the guy doesn't have the reciept for them, but he says that IBM doesn't require one for an RMA, just checking?
 
I don't think so, they can find out if it's under warranty using HD's serial number. Atleast that's what happend when I returned my 75gxp.
 
2 drives in a year? They were prolly the 75GXP's though, right? I will be getting a couple 36LZX's, so hopefully they will last a while.
