Does Houston seem to be *like* a police state lately?

Every where I look there are cops. It makes me nervous(no, I have nothing to hide.)

Anyone else notice this?

I have noticed on my trips there that the police are in full force. Not sure why. I was passing a cop every 30 seconds it seemed like in Sugarland.

Yeah, I have never seen them out in full force like this before.

It's about revenue, and it's all across America.

We are quickly becoming a Police Nation.

I wish it were all across America. Not enough police here in Oakland. Mayor's finally broken down and said he'd hire more but we haven't seen 'em yet.

one word: katrina.

the poor from new orleans went to houston because the mayor of houston at the time was stupid and advertised them to come.

crime rates shot up like a rocket

A couple weeks ago, they ran a sting on the frontage road near Eldridge + I 10 West, busting dozens of people driving over 35mph in the workzone (double fines). Normally I never see them pull people over in that area, and people generally go 45+ cause traffic usually enters and exits from the freeway in that area.

Houston supposedly has a shortage of police officers, so it's probably more of a case of officers trying to earn revenue for the city.
