Does HDMI support 2560*1600 resolution?

Can the HDMI port on a laptop support 4m pixel resolution?
If it can how do I know if it will or does all HDMIs do that?

I will buy a new laptop and have a 30" that I'd like to use at time.

hdmi will not work, nor will an adapter. you'll probably need dual link dvi to drive that monitor, which very few consumer-level laptops have (but it's becoming more common).

I was afraid of that.

Got the Samsung SyncMaster 305T plus.
It is awesome.

Any downscaling and the picture quality decreases a lot.

for the most part no. hdmi 1.3 does, but there really arent any monitors that support that yet.
