Does HDD SMART work when on PCI controller card?

Just wondering. I have a WD1200JB and a Hitachi 180GXP 82.3GB HDD, while the WD1200JB might not have temp monitoring, I'm pretty sure the 180GXP does, and I'd like to know if its possible to monitor its temp with MBM5 if its connected to a PCI ATA133 controller card as it is now. Thanks!

Thanks, if so, how can I configure MBM5 to read the temps off the HDD? SMART is already enabled in the BIOS. I have a SilImage 0680 controller chip based controller card btw, if it matters.
