Does having an x1900xt automatically mean needing "X" amount of case fans?

Silly question perhaps. Sorry for my noobness. But I hear that some of these cards could start a forest fire with the heat they release. If I were to buy one, are there types of cases that I should not even consider because of their low number of fans?

Generally speaking, every case should have 2 fans and 2 only. One for the intake and one for the exhaust. If you add more, you really have to know your aerodynamics, or the extra fans will actually make things worse.

oynaz: so if my power supply has 2 fans, does that mean i don't need anything else? i mean, the 80mm in it pulls air eventually into the case and the rear 80mm also gets rid of air.

OP: all i can say is that airflow is about balance. if you have 48CFM going into the case, you should also try to get around 48 going out.

everything has to generally be balanced, but keep in mind, PSU is exhaust unless u have a lian li V1000 style case where the psu is on the bottom and doesn't take much air from the case, and some graphics cards are exhausts. theres not much to aerodynamics, all case's will have cracks that automatically balance out neg or pos case pressure. getting lots of cold air in and getting the hot air out is whats more important.

The PSU should not act as the sole exhaust, and ideally should be drawing in air at room temperature, not "case" temp.
