Does GTX 590 Carry 7.1 HD Audio via HDMI as well as HD video through one cable?

Posted the answer over in the AV thread. Only the GTX 460, GTS 450, and GT 430 can do this properly. Every other card can do compressed formats, just not lossless audio. It sucks, but that's the state of affairs. You can thank Sony for such "good" DRM on Bluray for all the hoops we audiophiles much jump through to play back their sacred content.

No you can thank the entire industry for that. Sony is only one member of the Blu-ray alliance. Another member is Apple who was the DRM king for years through iTunes.

I had a 580 for a short bit and I didn't see the complete range of HDMI sampling rates supported that the 5xxx and 6xxx series do.

OK, I am going with 1 GTX 590 EVGA Classified, 1 i7 990z or 2600k Over clocked, 8 or 12GB 1600 Ram, 1 120GB to 160GB SSD, 1 2TB HDD, 1 DL Reader / Writer, 1 BD Reader / Writer, Coolmaster HAF-X, and the best mobo and psu for this setup. Also I want the system to run quite but I dont want water cooling. How should I do this? Cyberpowerpc? Custom Build?
