Does God deserve to be worshipped or even respected?

So, if this all-knowing, all-powerful God created the universe and everything as we know it, does he really deserve respect? He didn't work hard for these qualities of his, they were just always there. He's like a prince that became king, or somebody who inherited a fortune, except there is no cause to God. Can you see what I'm saying, or do you think I may be anthropomorphizing God a bit too much?
