does anyone have Gigabyte GA-7VTXE motherboard or use it before?
does it have any problem? or any noticable itch?

i have two choice: DFI-AK76SN and Gigabyte GA-7VTXE
they are almost the same features and price.
DFI AK76-SN uses AMD 761 and VIA686B chipsets.
GA-7VTXe uses VIA KT266A chipsets.

but i can't find any review for the GA-7VTXE, does it any good?
should i just get the AK76SN instead?

I have a Gigabyte GA-7VTXH which is the same as the E version except the E version doesn't have an option to change the CPU multiplier in the bios. Of the four KT266a boards I have tried (which include Shuttle, Epox, Gigabyte and Abit), I like the Gigabyte the best if your not going to do any extreme overclocking. It is easy to setup, compact in size, comes with a extra USB cable and an excellent manual. It truly is a bullet proof board and I believe Gigabyte has a good tech support department but you won't need it for this board.

Does anyone have the Gigabyte GA-7VTXE, I'm considering getting this board since cause
I could get his board for real cheap and it is on AMD's approved list. Are there any problems
that I should be aware of.

I got the board and it's 100% stable so far. According to the comparison at tomshardware, it's a bit below-average in terms of performance, but since it's also the cheapest on the market I guess that goes with it.

As for problems - the only thing I've run into so far - and that might not be related to the board at all - was when trying to use a dual monitor setup with a geforce2gts as the primary and a tnt2/pci as the secondary video card, under windows 2000, keyboard and mouse go dead as soon as the secondary graphics adapter is initialized. Not a system freeze mind you, just the input devices..

I've tried swapping cards and drivers around - to no avail. If I make PCI primary, keyb&mouse go dead as soon as the gf2 initializes, so it's not something with tnt2 per se.. any help would be appreciated, as it looks I'll buy an USB mouse and keyboard which should work.

Is the only diff between the 7VTXE and the 7VTXH+ the multiplier in the bios? Is the 7VTXH diff then the 7VTXH+ or did you just leave the plus off. The prices for the 7VTXE are great! But which should I get?

The only differences between the 7VTXE and the 7VTXH+ are that 7VTXH+ has multiplier in the bios, Lan, and the + means that it has ATA133 support. I would say get the 7VTXE if you dont need all those extra features.

Yeah that is what I ended up doing. Are there any hard drives that support ATA133? The price was good for the 7vtxe, and I didnt need that extra stuff, plus a guy on usenet said that I should NEVER o'clock an XP. I didnt plan on doing it either.

The H and H+ (which isn't on the shelves yet) also have the Creative sound chip which delivers much better sound than the E's AC97 codec. As stated, the H+ just adds ATA133 (a worthless feature IMHO, so its not worth paying any more for the '+') to the H's features.

BTW, they all have Gigabyte's exclusive dual BIOS, which can save your 'arse' in the event of a bad flash.
