Does getting your iPod engraved delay the shipping very long?

I'm going to order an iPod mini this week, I get a pretty good price with my student discount. Engraving is free, so I was going to get the requisite "trapped in an ipod factory, send help" engraved on it.

But I've heard stories of people's iPods being delayed for some reason or another and I'd like to avoid that if at all possible. Is it the engraving process that delays them - or is it just random?
 
Thanks guys - just ordered w/o engraving. Hopefully it gets here this week so I can use it for the long drive home to visit my parents
