Does Firefox have issues lately? Latency?

When I have a lot of windows & tabs open lately on my machines I'm getting very serious latency issues with keystrokes in Firefox. These are laptops running XP Pro and Vista Home Premium with 1.5GB and 3GB DDR2, respectively. Someone has said that he's getting similar problems lately and he's running a Quad 6600 machine with 4GB RAM. Should I not upgrade my RAM? I don't want to throw money away!
 
Sense people around here love to be strict and prudes I will too. Two threads about the same thing won't get you help any quicker. Have fun.
 
It happens to me even without a bunch of tabs open.

PITA when I Ctrl N and half of my search string isn't registered.

Please, find something else to do with your time than scolding people for trying to expedite their search for important information. The fact was that I was "watching" an item on ebay and wanted to know if I was pissing my money away if I bought the item. I was getting zero response to my posts, so I posted another. I didn't double post, I posted different text. Yes, there was some overlap. Don't be a petty rule freak. FYI, even so I did not get the information I needed before the auction ended and I wound up buying the 2 sticks of DDR2. Maybe I should have posted more!
