Read the speed guide on the utorrent webpage. You should set your max upload speed to 80% of your total available bandwidth and open the port on your router.

No, your own personal upoad doesn't affect download speed, unless it's too high in which case it can max your pipe and slow your downloads.

I never upload more than 1kb/s and always instantly remove finished torrents. My share ratio must be something like 0.00005. I am under severe bandwidth restrictions so I really don't care.

I cap my uploads at 10kb/s and never have issues d/ling. Make sure your ports are forwarded properly in both your router and Windows firewall.

where do you live and what isp....

i have the 2nd to highest business package from our local cable company, until about a week ago it was 8mbps/8mbps, and then we got a free speed increase (well everyone did) to 10/10... it's iffy though, i dont know if there's even a cap on it...sometimes during peak hours according to speedtest.net i'll get ~9mbps down, sometimes less even...,but on the other hand sometimes during off peak hours i'll get up to 15mbps both ways...

thank god i dont have a cap, sometimes i'll be at a call and need to grab an OS iso off of my ftp server and vista isos are like 3-4GB alone.... so shit, i would be hitting that 5GB cap with one upload... i probably upload 200GB a month from my ftp server...not including torrents and other random stuff

Who is your ISP?

Some ISPs have soft-caps, where you will get warnings over XXXGB per month, and then they will shut you off.

a local company in Meunster, Valley View, Collinsville, and Lake Kiowa, Texas.... Nortex Communications is the name, i believe they are somehow affiliated with West Central Wireless (they probably get there connection from them), reason i say this is because speedtest.net reports that as my ISP
