There's an easy way to

1- benefit from this behavior
2- or stop it

by:

exchanging burning/converting for sexual favors (ps. not from your sister!)

I've kept my computer in my room. If anyone wants to use it, they better make damn sure they check with me first or I rip 'em a new one ;)

I use my burner to help friends and backup games :D otherwise its more of a "on-demand" thing.

Our baby sitter does the same thing. Her and another gal came over and burned CD's all night. I think in the two years we have had it we might of used it twice. The thing that really chaps my butt is when she started to use our scaner/printer/copier. She scanned and printed so much crap we had to get new cartriges and those only lasted about 3 weeks. Needless to say after about $75 worth of new cartriges we had a little talk with her.

Don't even get me started on the fact she rewinds her videos in the VCR when I have asked her to user our video rewinder. :) And many other habits that drive me up the wall.

heh, yeah, i had people try to use my pc when they come over, but I usually have them bring theirs, and we can network and play games, or for my girls that don't have a pc, i let em come over and i have a whole nother system. . im tellin ya, girls act really nice when you have a system so they can play solitaire between nookie, other wise if your actually trying to do stuff, like make them cd's or print them pictures, they'll distract ya. . . if they don't have their own machine. . .

Nobody else has a password for my main PC.
Even if they did, I use a blank dvorak keyboard, so they wouldn't get very far.

Yeah. You were the one bugging us to use our computers and leaving crap on our drives in 2001 after burning your CDs.

By 2003, we had all moved to burning DVDs and you were likely doing the same mooch thing with that. ;)

FWIW, I got my first CD-RW drive in Jan 98 (discs were expensive) and my first DVD-R drive in 2002.

I used to burn music cds for all my friends. Now everybody knows how to do it themselves. I was going through 50 packs of CDs several times a year.

Now, I don't think I've used my cd/dvd burner in over 3 years.

HA! cartridges that last 3 weeks! With girls printing up a storm!! HA! 2001 was so naive.

The only cartridges they sell anymore contain negative ink. I put one in and printed, and it took some of the ink off the pictures on the wall!

My printer takes NINE of the smaller 80ml carts, which are still gargantuan compared to most printers. The larger ones are 700ml (0.7 liters). I extract ink from those to refill with OEM ink. :)

A few days ago I got a very specific adapter to use some old Plextor drives with modern PCs for the ReDump archival project. Had it in my Amazon cart for months then saw it was on sale for Prime Day. Plextor is still king. :)

It took me the longest time to convert from OS install via CD to OS Install via USB.

I think I converted... about 3-5 years ago?
