That's what happens when you live in a country with a heavy-handed piece of crap gov't.

While I won't deny the Chinese government is way too heavy-handed and oppressive, how is this particular execution an example of that?

Do you think they should have just let him go free?
Prison is a nice moderation :)

I do like the caning system in Singapore. I think it's good for a criminal to have a nice caning every once in a while.

For someone who steals $500,000 in an impoverished country? Death's too good for him.

I heard that it hurts like hell, they have special "hitters" who would soak rattan sticks in water a day before.

China is hardly imporverished. You have hunger, but not starvation, and only way out west past the end of civilization.

China does execute more people than any other nation, and while lots of atoters are saying its a good system, you should remember that for every jackass like this guy that bites the bullet (literally) there are probably 2 or 3 people that you wouldn't wish anything more than a 2-5 year sentence on that get killed. Capital punishment on the Chinese scale is not cool.

Unless they're cantonese, they eat everything except the scales of the fish.

In Communist China, they'll drop a ChiCom-standard pistol round into your head...

Then send your wife the bill for the bullet.

Executions are nothing in China. For all the complaints and jokes about executions in the United States, China far far exceeds it.

China also has 5x the population of the US.

The only problem i have with the death penalty is that it doesn't include sexual crimes.

Anyways, death penalty for $500k in China sounds just about right. I though I remembered a few years ago somebody was executed for pinching girls' bottom in China, but couldn't find it with a google search.

OK, I'm sorry, but you all saying that you wish we had these kinds of punishments here, yeah-fscking-right.

You all would be the same people having a coronary the moment our rights were violated like that.

Like a "drug dealer" should be punished with death. That's a bunch of crap.

Should we also kill people that make arts and crafts and sell them on the street corner? Afterall, they aren't paying taxes. That's illegal, right?

Don't you all understand that the ability to "fight the man" is key to the way our so-called free society works? If we didn't have that ability, "he" would be able to make up any law he wanted. We would be at the mercy of the government, and that isn't what you all want. The people have to remain in control at least a little.

Hey, I have an idea.. let's do away with alcohol again. Yes, alcohol should be prohibited. Cigarettes too.

If you're caught smoking cigarettes or drinking alcohol, you will be killed on the spot. Yeah! Sounds like a great idea.

While we're at it, let's get rid of coffee. All drugs are sinful!

You all would be real supportive of corporal punishment then. :p

Happens so freakishly much in china that it is rarely stated in the news.
