I am planning on upgrading soon. I want it pretty silent but NO passive cooling because they get too hot. If you could check to see if there would be any problems that would be great.

Motherboard: DFI LanParty UT nf4 Ultra-D $135.00

CPU: AMD Athlon 64 3000+ Venice $145.99

Video Card: SAPPHIRE Radeon X800XL Ultimate Edition $324.99

RAM: CORSAIR XMS 1GB (2 x 512MB) 184-Pin DDR SDRAM Unbuffered DDR 400 (PC 3200) Dual Channel Kit $115.00

Hard Drive: I have a Maxtor DiamondMax 9 80GB

DVD Burner: I have one

Case: I have a Lian Li PC-61B

Power Supply: OCZ ModStream OCZ52012U ATX 520W Power Supply $115.00

Extra Cooling:
XP-90C with Panaflo HA1 with RPM Sensor $66.45

Arctic Silver 5 $7.99

Total: 910.42

The link is down but I think you were refering to the Zalman VGA cooler? THe sapphire already has that on. Second I am keeping the case because it is one of the best cases I have ever worked with.

hmm the video card looks overpriced... If it's just the bigger cooler that made the difference I'd rather buy a $250 X800XL

The Maxtor DiamondMax10/MaxLineIII's are the fastest 7200 RPM drives currently on the market.

With the Video card it is one of the coolest models and quietest models avialable it stays. The Maxtor DiamondMax 10 will be my last upgrade once I get the main compenents. Thank you theman for the suggestion of the XP-90. I will be now getting the XP-90 Copper and a Panaflo Fan.

Most X800XLs are quiet. If you don't overclock you don't need "the coolest" GPU. I never heard X800XL run hot anyway

Also with Silence I am going to have this thing runing in my bedroom almost 24/7 and I don't want the thing not allowing me to fall asleep.

heh you know how noisy is my 5000rpm CPU cooler which was the best cooler out there 3.5 years ago that was essential to cool Athlon Thunderbird 1.2G (The second hottest processor by then). Friends on the phone asked is my house being vacuum cleaned.

Actually I never have sleep problems. You get use to noises quite quickly

Well I shall not get sidetracked

Trust me the case fans and PSU fans will be noiser than the X800XL (any of good mainstream brands) fans. When GPU are idle (as your computer is idling) they are very quiet.
Don't have to worry about that too much.
