Does everyone agree Nvidia has superior noise reduction technology?

Whats the point of noise reduction if it doesn't cool anything? All I can say is nv cards are well covered for winter.

lol. That was funny. Everyone should practice more sound readership when participating in forums! :D

Said that, my personal experience disagrees with Derek. I have tried H.264 encoded Quicktime clips as well as Blu-Ray playback via PowerDVD. AMD's solution gave more consistent and more pleasant image. I tried to toy with the noise reduction bar in the NV Control Panel, but didn't get a satisfactory result. Sometimes the noise/banding was very noticeable, especially with encoded clips playing off HDDs. I am only speaking for my experience, which involves 8600 GT and HD 3850. And the last time I tested 8600 GT was about 6 months ago, so it's very possible that NV has made improvement with G92 and newer drivers as well. (I currently do not own a PC Blu-Ray ROM any more)

Related: I had an issue in the general inconsistency of nForce chipset handling the Blu-Ray ROM. It was a Pioneer BDC-2202 which was one of the first Blu-Ray ROMs for PC. The board was Biostar 7050PV and it was a wonderful little board (I OC'ed an X2 3800+ to 3.2GHz on it), but for some reason I occasionally encountered hard lock-ups when playing Blu-Ray movies. This has nothing to do with the video card, I think, because it never happened on Intel chipsets.

Edit: This almost exacts my experience with 8600 GT. It looks like the issue has been fixed since then, but at that time all other reviews (including AT's) gave perfect score for NV's noise reduction which was why I purchased a 8600 GT. (and got disappointed)
