does everybody use memtest86+ now?

I use the + version, too. To answer your question, let it run for as long as you can afford. I let mine run for 8 hours (while I was sleeping). Zero reported errors in 8 hours gave me the warm fuzzy I needed to call my memory o/c a success.

On their support forums, Corsair recommends Memtest to their users, testing each stick one at a time.
If that passes, you can move onto Prime95 using the torture test and let that run overnight for each stick.
I have memory that passes Memtest at 2225 timings, but one stick fails Prime95 after 14 minutes.
I'll be sending that memory back for replacement.

they stopped making the original memtest, but the guys who make the + version still use the same source code (with permission of course) it just has been updated to support new motherboards

the main reason was the original wouldnt start up in opteron systems (system would just keep rebooting when memtest would try to start) which is why someone borrowed the source and made it compatable with new chipsets

memtest.org is where you can get the + version
memtest86.com is the original

I've only used it once to troubleshoot bad RAM.... the test ran clean and I ended up replacing the mobo 😛

that's the only time I've ever used it
