does every paper need a thesis?

i'm writing a paper for college admission about an experience that greatly affected me. it's not like a literary analysis or you're not trying to prove something.

All essays do.

Hah they give that subject for every grade you have Literature. Every grade i've been they ask me to write about that, and yes, they want a thesis and paragraphs supporting that thesis.

All good papers have a thesis.

Your paper should have a thesis along the lines of "I would make an excellent student at your university because I have personally learned such and such about myself/others/this and that"

Obviously you don't write that sentence in your paper, but that's the whole point of what you're writing, is it not?

As others have said, pretty much.

You may not spell it out as you would with a standard "n-paragraph essay," but it's just a good practice to make a thesis statement so that you know where you're going.
