K-12 + college for all is an interesting way for keep employment numbers looking good. Can't say much for the education since pretty much very few besides those in very focused STEM fields are actually gaining work skills.

it really isn't free since you do pay for it through taxes.

It's in Societies interest that they do.

It's in Americans interest to do so for their country as well as themselves, and it's not free, taxpayers are funding it, calling something free diminishes its value to most people and they treat it liked another entitled handout.

An educated intelligent American that puts their country first is actually paid lip service by both parties but actually denigrated by liberals and hijacked by conservatives,

the liberals because of this belief that American exceptionalism, pride in ones country and putting it first is some sort of politically incorrect xenophobic bigotry,

the conservatives use it to sell false wars and have young men and women join the military for cannon fodder, and fatten the pockets of the corporate elite while systematically destroying everything this country used to stand for.

Well, that made little to no sense at all.

Your lame attempt at compartmentalizing fails.

A free and open society is deserving of an informed and capable citizenry.
Pay It Forward!
If you don'd want to be surrounded by incapable idiots you must train them.

Only republicans say otherwise.

It is for the nation's interest that everyone study. America is a market economy, and educated people are better consumers.

Similar thinking goes with republican idea of minimum wages as well. All republican ideas are for economic spiral down. May be that is a conspiracy to create free army for whatever they are standing for, like we see in middle east.

Don't fall for retarded ideas.

Yes, as it is in the spirit of "equality in opportunity". Plus, the whole informed citizenry thing, creating an educated workforce, and other benefits I don't feel like going into at the moment.

And regardless, education is enshrined in every state constitution, so it is generally considered a right of each citizen, not a benefit that each citizen "deserves".

It is a huge benefit for the country to have a free education for it's population. I would classify it as a necessity to compete in global marketplace.

It's whats best for society.

You know what else is best for society? Giving the teachers the ability to smack the living shit out of the disobedient kids that parents are too stupid to raise correctly.

But you poor liberals got tired of that kind of oppression, and have instead opted for police officers to have to be called in to put the dumb shits in line.

I am not down with physical violence as a valid method of effective teaching. I will not apologize or feel bad about that stance either. I would support removal of disruptive students.

Yes, general education should be provided through the government.

maybe we charged the kids 10$k per year for K-12 and when they graduate high school they have a 200$k loan to pay off (assuming %2 inflation and %4 interest) :awe:

Yeah I bet you have a lot of research that shows the link between teachers physically assaulting the children they are responsible for and improved education outcomes.

Right?

Yes, general education should be provided through the government.

But what happens if they want to teach kids...you know... science?

Or what if the curriculum includes sex education not based on religious dogma and shaming people?

Is anyone thinking about the poor religious taxpayers here? Can't have these fungible tax funds aiding people they've never met for issues they wouldn't approve of.

It would be chaos, the end of America. Cats and dogs, living together. Thanks Obama!
