Does enabling Firewall in XP prevent your computer from spreading the blaster?

See title. Simple question, I havnt found the answer online yet.

I don't have an answer but I keep spreading some virus. My server email gets about 60-100 emails with viruses and then I get emails from other domain names saying I sent them a virus and I should check my computer out. I haven't sent squat but this virus just sucks. The subjects have varied from "your application" to "cool screen saver."

not from spreading it, but it would block the port that could infect your PC, if you don't already have your OS patched

Yup, it would prevent infection.

Outbound ports aren't affected.

You are reffering to Sobig.F, not Blaster. Blaster came in through open ports, not email.

And no, XPs firewall should stop you from getting the virus, but not from distributing it. The firewall only stops incoming connections, anything can go out unchecked.

sounds like you have the klez virus.

sounds like you have the klez virus.

Sobig.F does this too, and amdskip may not actually have a virus. Sobig forges the from address and uses an address it finds in the address book/mail of the infected computer. This places blame on an innocent person and allows the virus to cover its tracks.
