Does "Enable Write Caching" with SATA Disk on AHCI controller?

I have IP35Pro with ICH9R. I'm running Windows XP SP2 with AHCI controller for my WD SATA drive. It works great but the "enable write caching" is greyed out and the box is unchecked. Does it mean the drive is not using write caching?
