As topic states:

I know of fdd and win2k issue, but in the past I have been running win98se or me...My moto is if it ain't broke don't fix it...flashing could be extremely hazardous and unless completely necessary to gain stability I avoid it.

If so I know each can have a little different procedure or require some file setting up to do it...Can someone point me to a good guide in which to do this on ecs k7s5a?????

Check the ECS site, and see if their latest BIOS mentions anything about XP. Most likely you won't be able to avoid it. There are other ways to install XP around non-XP-compatible motherboards, but flashing the BIOS would be a lot easier.

If the board has an old bios installed, you'll need to flash it to the new one for Athlon XP support. Check out the ecs site. here
