Does EBGames/Gamestop have a price guarantee on systems?

So my second, 4-month old 360 just broke (red ring of death this time), and although I will be getting replaced by Microsoft, I'd like to get an Elite. I was going to buy one at EBGames in town since I have some store credit, but with the rumors of an impending price drop to $399, I'm afraid if I do it now I'll be losing money, however I do not want to be without a 360 for two weeks while I "wait and see". So, does anyone know if they have a price guarantee (like a lot of big stores do where if their price drops within 30 days, etc. they will refund the difference)?

Being the resident Gamestop employee around these parts, the answer is no. You can only bring it back to the store within so many days (I've been told 30 and 7 by different people, so who knows what store policy is), but only if it's broken, and even then, we'll only exchange. Any decently smart manager will catch on to what you were trying to do, and deny any replacement and/or price refund. You'd be better off buying it somewhere that does guarantee this, like Best Buy or Circuit City.

How much store credit do you have? Is it worth waiting to spend it on something else?

Well, it's not like I'm trying to pull a "fast one" on them...but if the price does drop then I think I should legitimately be able to get the difference refunded to me. If the purported price drop was to happen tomorrow it would be fine, but I'm not really keen on waiting 2 weeks to find out, and none of the chain stores around me have any Elites in stock (EB does).

I'm sorry, I didn't mean to imply that what I described is something that you'd do. I just started rambling 🙂. However, it's my opinion that a price guarantee is simply a privilege, not a right.

Good luck in whatever you decide to do.
