does dust affect how an amp produce sound?

i have this aged old dustful amp and it keeps shuttin off left and right. have to keep hittin it for both speakers to work

Only due to heat. Sounds more like a bad solder joint or other component that's moving as it heats up.

yea, it does get intensely hot during playback. what would you recommend to clean the dust? air or cloth?

Compressed air..

As someone said, it's probably a cold solder joint.
