Does Dual Layer DVD writer only write on Dual Layer disk?

This may sound stupid, but I thought I saw somewhere that there was a recorder that is suppose to write in both type of disk so...I'm thinking these are only meant to write on DL disks. Is that right?
 
I don't think I've ever seen a DL burner that didn't also write to about eleventy billion other different formats.

Would be kind of pointless to produce a DL-only burner anyway, especially considering media is still in excess of $10 per disk.
 
Click the "Storage" tab at the top of the page and read an article or two.

Also if you have questions about which burner to buy, type "dvd" into the search tab. Do the same in the Software forum for software threads.
