Does download.com add spyware to software?

Someone told me that download.com sometimes adds spyware to software that wasn't added by the manufacturer. I dont have any reason to believe this...but does anyone know...is this true?
 
not that i am aware of. they may have links to useless crap, but the main download link shouldn't be anything but the app (i could be wrong).
 
Most of the time download.com just links to another companies FTP server so there would be no way for them to add spyware. The only thing I have seen them do is add their name and logo to an internet explorer link, but why would you want to download IE from download.com in the first place.

Now, it would be completely possible for those programs to come with spyware in the first place...
