Does Dell use a middleman?

My friend and I just got in on the Dell 20% off deal and both of us ordered the Sony G520 monitor. His came in today and was shipped from someplace near Dallas which I'm guessing is where Dell has a warehouse. UPS told me that mine is coming from a company in Ohio called International Computer Graphics. I thought a company as big as Dell would get stuff straight from Sony. Is there a reason why it's coming from Ohio?

you wouldnt think so,but maybe company X is just helping the distribute/assemble machines..
i dunno really, just a guess.
that, or the UPS guy is stupid (good possibility of that)

Maybe they only use that place when they get out of stock?

I've had Dell stuff come from Texas, Kentucky, and Tennessee. I wouldn't sweat it until you receive the merchandise.

Yeah, I figured that maybe they ran out of stock but the CSR from Dell told that they had plenty in stock when I ordered it. Too bad it's not coming from Dallas; I would probably have it today. Now I have to wait until Friday.....friggin' UPS refuses to work on July 4th. :|

Yeah, only about 90% of the US population is off of work, damn UPS guys, wanting to spend time like the rest of the country....BASTAGES.

I'm all for celebrating the holiday, but I feel company that does what they do should stay top of things. Not to mention the fact that I've receieved three monitors from them in the past and yep, all three have been damaged in some way. This just gives them an extra day to mess up my package. Maybe I'm just an unpatriotic bastard.

Dell ships out of several locations. I believe they hire an outsource to handle a lot of the shipping (cheaper for everyone involved that way), but I've never found out for sure. Basically, think of it as dropshipping if you must

From what I remember, by default most RMA returns go to Ohio, but I've never kept track of that sort of thing.
