A Dell U2414M arrives this afternoon. It has been highly praised here on Anandtech. I'll let you know tomorrow my impression.
Did your dell u2414m arrive? Is it any good?
You're under the impression that Dell ever made "the Best Monitors"?Does Dell Still Make the Best Monitors
Do they? Their monitors a few years ago were outstanding. Are they even better, or the best?

Yes - the brown van dropped it off on time. Unpack and set up was very straight forward and easy. I calculated the space for the 24-in monitor just right - a half inch clearance on either side.
Connected to existing DVI and powered up. It literally self installed - correct res at 1900x1220. Very impressive. Now I have to get used to such a large screen after 12 years on a 19-incher.
Am currently running it on 8.1. This machine is multi-boot - 7 and 8.1. Have not yet switched it to 7. That will be later on.
Bottom line - it all works perfectly as advertised.
Dell still has the best warranty which is why I stay with them.
I own a single Dell 29" Ultrawide Ultrasharp 4K monitor. It is really good...it is wide and big also. With Windows 8.1, with the split screen feature, I can search the internet on one side while editing photos.

I think you may be confused.
There is a 29'' ultrasharp ultra-wide monitor, but it is sort of by definition not 4k since it uses a wider aspect ratio than 16:9.
4k = 3840x2160, aspect ratio is 16:9.
The 29'' ultra-wide is 2560x1080, aspect ratio is 21:9.
