I've ordered from them both Home and SB. They didn't charge me tax but I haven't ordered from them for awhile. I read somewhere sometime this year that Dell SB was charging tax to California residents in some thread.

You get a special form with your california incometax where they ask you to pay the tax you didn't pay yourself. Unless you want to cheat on your taxes, you are required to keep track of that stuff and pay.

Right, by law you are required to pay the tax on ALL purchases - even if they don't charge you. Instead you must keep track of all online orders for a full year, and calculate the tax yourself, and then send it in. Much better just to be charged in the first place so you don't have to worry about it. But no, Dell home doesn't charge sales tax.
