Does Dell Delay Shipping???!

Ok.. heres the deal..

i need a laptop delivered within a certain date .... say 10th of December 2003. delivery is within US.

assuming all the F**K ups and normal delays by Dell... what is the last safe date by when i can order... so that i am sure to get the delivery within the 10th of December ??

I need your experiences to speak here


Edit: If I order within the 1st/2nd of november.... december 15th will be a safe date to expect delivery... right??

Why not order it now? Usually dell has a turn around time of a week, but delays due to part shortages are not uncommon.

Dell always takes FOREVER to ship stuff, at least it seems that way to me. If you're ordering from dell and have a time frame, you're best to do it as soon as possible.

If you're cutting it that close to the xmas season, I'd say no latter than a month in advance.

If you're planning on ordering a laptop I'd suggest ordering it today. Or ASAP. Their turn around times for a laptop can take up to a month! I'd buy ASAP!

Wait for another Hot Deal (coupons, rebate, free upgrade DVD/CD-RW combo drive, free shipping) to come around.

Do not order any later than 11/1.

They give you a shipping date when you configure the system. They usually ship systems on a timely basis.

Some of those crazy hot deals take a while to get sometimes though.

Id agree...once that november month hits to get it by early december is pretty slim...especially if its a laptop...a desktop on the other hand they seem to get out within half a month...

Obviously I cannot 100% guarantee anything since I do not work for Dell but under normal circumstances that's 6 weeks which should be plenty of time.

I originally had to order the laptop within the first week of november...
Should i order now? what are the chances that ill get another coupon in 3 weeks? I am subscibed to 3 email addys btw...
The question is.. should i order now... and get a discount of 10%... or wait another 3 weeks and order...

my order for the 1901 just got delayed till oct 21st. I order last week. I think its complete ridiculous of dell to continue to say on their website in both home/small business that hte monitor usually ships same day.ie telling you its in stock. When you order they would even estimate it as being taking a week as if they had them in stock. when I called I get told we don't have enough stock of them.

Its horrible business practice in my mind. They continue to take orders on something they don't have.

Well when I ordered my 1901 it said it would not ship for quite some time. I ended up getting the monitor within a day or two.

Even if you get another 10% off coupon I don't think they're stackable. Or if you do end up getting one it would not be valid with the previous one due to the previous one expiring.

Well when I ordered my 1901 it said it would not ship for quite some time. I ended up getting the monitor within a day or two.

My order was suppose have been here by yesterday. they didn't bother emailing me about a delay until yesterday when I called to find out what's up and found they didn't have any in stock. And complained until they agreed to upgrade my order to overnight for free.

What was yours like. did they email you before the day it shipped? that it was delayed?
