Does decreasing "timeout" in boot.ini accomplish anything?

I was just curious if decreasing this figure to say 3 seconds from its default of 30 seconds would do anything for bootup times on a single OS system, or if this figure only applies to multi-OS systems when it gives you a menu to choose which OS to load.

That's correct, in XP/2003 and earlier if you have a single OS it does nothing; if you have multiple OSes it leaves the menu up longer before picking your default.

In Vista and later it does nothing.
