From all the review I read, nForce with DASP enable does not perform better than Via's KT266A chipset. Does that mean DASP is useless for processor with its own prefetch or does that mean a bigger DASP cache and better DASP algorithm are needed to show its benefit.
I think the fact the the Athlon XP already has some form of DASP (TLB IIRC) onboard, it negates the advantage of the Nforce.
Plus the fact that Nvidia hasn't had quite nearly the amount of experience Via have and still managed to pull something equal to Via's second attempt at a DDR board and miles ahead of Via's first attempt Cough KT266 Cough
I was wondering what they will do with their DASP. Will they just take it out and focus on more clear design? Or, will they try to improve its algorithm so the contents in the DASP cache are always exclusive to what the CPU's prefetch and are also always useful contents that CPU will need? Is such improvement difficult and costly to implement?
Well it's not like that DASP thing wouldn't enhance performance ... it's more like all the other chipsets have similar tricks up their sleeve, only that their makers don't make such a fuzz about it.
