does cutting void my warranty? (car subwoofer)

I need to make a 1 inch cut in a rubber grommet at the firewall of the car to pass through the power cable. That's the only extent of my cutting. Will this give the dealer an excuse not to provide warranty service on the car? I have some minor A/C and hardware work that I'd like to have looked at under warranty sometime.

It's the only place I can find to run through the +12V power line. Otherwise I'd have to drill the firewall and I really don't want to do that.

I'd check your warranty paper. That will usually say exactly what will cause it to be voided.

The general rule of thumb is that nothing can "void" your warranty. Only parts of your warranty can be voided. For example, if you add nitrous to your car and your engine blows up, your engine is no longer under warranty.

Now with what pertains to you, if you blow up your battery because you hooked up your amp power cable wrong, your battery and electrical system warranty might be voided.
