Does crystal light, etc ruin the benefits of water?

I like putting Crystal Light in my water and usually try and drink 3-4 water bottles filled with them throughout the day.

Is it as good as drinking straight water?

I don't know how it would...

It would maybe add a few things that aren't the best, but its not like it removes the minerals in that water or something.

If it doesn't have caffeine then it's not a diuretic (makes you pee) so you stay hydrated. Which is the point of water.

It's also calorie free so it's not like you are gaining weight from it.

If you into the "artificial sweetners are baaaaaaaad!" camp then you may up your risks of cancer and possibly cause an insulin spike from the sweetness.

But it's not like you are drinking a can of Mountain Dew.

If you had actually read the OP--"I like putting Crystal Light in my water"--you'd know that he's adding it to water.

You said it. If you're drinking water for reasons that don't include staying hydrated or trying to flush your system to pass the drug test, then you don't quite understand what water does. It doesn't cause weight loss or any of that other crap people try to claim.

It should still keep you hydrated.

That said, I can't drink anything sweet to stay hydrated. Even when I drink flavored water, my body just wants normal water to get rid of the taste/feel.

Nah that's a myth, it doesn't work that way (thankfully).

My dad drank too much Crystal Light back in the day, and the potassium started screwing with his bloody chemistry.

Moral of the story: too much of anything is a bad thing.

Cliffs: don't drink a ton and you'll be fine.

That's true, but some people find it helps to drink a lot of water when changing their eating habits -- it can help suppress hunger pangs if you can fill up on water in between small meals instead of snacking or eating larger portions.

Not only that, but if you replace my pepsi intake with water intake then I don't eat 800 to 1000 calories a day. (4 to 6 pepsi's)

When I'm competing, I stop drinking soda's and usually lose 10-15 pounds.

Exactly. It's simply about the calorie density of the foods you eat. Drinking a liter of water and a liter of pop will fill a person's stomach the same way, one just has more calories.

Man I hate that stuff, someone put a box of those crystal lite individual size packs on our water cooler, I tried one and it was horrible.

What b&m stores sell the above products? I want to try some but don't want to pay $4.95 for shipping.
