does congress do any work?

they just got off of a month long break and now there are only 17 days left in the session. and i think when they're in session they really only do work in the middle part of the week. i think members of congress are the laziest SOBs on the planet.

The break could be considered work time since they are supposed to represent their constituents. They go home and spend time in the states and districts that they represent instead of spending their entire term in DC.

It'd be great if we made congressmen go out and *do* stuff, like help build bridges or work with the police. 😛

in the end congressmen represent no one but themselves. if they truly cared about their constituents and this nation, they'd be willing to support things that their constituents won't because they KNOW the country will benefit form whatever change. instead, they care about their career and will not risk a damning vote.

They started the whole system the way it is because back in the day there was no career politicians. Most had to back home to make money or run farms and such. Nowadays being in politics is a career like any other job. I think they should stay at work and earn some of there money. Maybe take some away if they miss too many days or something. After all we?re the customers and I don?t think we?re getting our moneys worth out of them. 🙂
