Does Chase outsource its customer support to foreign countries?

Like India and what not?

Seems kind of uneasy to trust foreign countries with your personal information.

Most likely India and/or Philippines are the top choices for outsourced support involving phone support.

Whenever I call Discover or Amex I usually speak with North American based CSR'S.

Yeah it's kinda scary. That's probably how those Nigerian scams start really, these companies probably sell your info off to these scam companies. Been a while since I had to deal with any kind of support but I usually just pick French and get someone here in Canada. If you don't speak French you are also allowed to ask for someone in your country if they have a call centre, by law they have to transfer you.

Since I have Chase I've had to talk to their phone CSRs. They definitely don't sound foreign at all (nor a guy with an Indian accent named Roger).

I just got off the phone with BoA and they are very obviously American too.

Tech company support on the other hand...

Even if they did, the security and privacy laws surrounding your accounts would probably prevent the caller from seeing anything actually.

Majority of that stuff is heavy pre-canned stuff where the CSR doesn't need to know much to do most actions

I wouldn't worry about it. I don't think foreign csrs are less trustworthy than Americans. I don't like talking to foreigners cause I have a hard time understanding them. I don't listen to Indians much, so I never get used to it. They're always professional, but I'd rather talk to an American.

I don't think outsourcing customer service is nearly as common today as it was 10-15 years ago. In the last few years, every customer service call I have made there has been an American on the other side of the line.

It just seems a bit scary to me since I had to provide my SSN for them to look up my account.

I rarely have to talk to a bank CSR but now to think of it, they have all be from North America in the past few years. I wonder why outsourcing call centers is not as big now. The minimum wage in India is still a hell of a lot lower than that of the US.

Chase Sapphire i think is in the US

Yep and if you have other Chase cards in addition to your Sapphire card you can ask them to help out with those as well.

As for Chase I think they have outsourced call centers for off\weekend hours for some of their cards but are US based during the daylight workweek hours

All of my Chase Visa Signature cards (United, Amazon, Freedom Unlimited) have India based dispute resolution support. Trip insurance, extended warranty, etc all seem to be US based. I've used both services on my United card, so it seems it depends on what you're needing help with.

My Amex CB Preferred, Discover (closed these last year), Barclay's World Mastercard all feature US-based CSR's.
