Does CAS 2 vs 2.5 really matter?

I have an older Inspiron 8100 which in all honesty is probably in need of a replacement but I love the UXGA screen and don't really have the money. Instead I'd like to upgrade my RAM from 256mb to the max of 512. Crucial recommends CAS 2 however at newegg for half the price I could get CAS 2.5. Will my system still run?

Thanks

Check the RAM in your computer now. It is probably CAS 2.5 or 3. If it is CAS 2.5 then Newegg's RAM is fine.

For SDRAM, CAS latency doesn't make as big of a difference due to the low clock speed. Just get the lowest CAS you can find/afford but put capacity before latency in that case.
