Does brand name matter?

After firing off quite a few pictures this past weekend with the digital camera at a family get together I decided that it may be smart to pick up some extra compact flash cards to be prepared for the holidays. So I was just curious if the brand name of the card really matters? Right now I've got a kodak compact flash card (it came with the camera) and I bought an extra Simple Technologies CF Card. I've seen cards made by Memorex, Kingston, PNY, Sandisk, Lexar, etc... and I was wondering if the brand name meant anything.

I know that PNY and Kingston make good computer memory but does the same thing apply to their CF cards? Are there any brands out there that I should look for or maybe stay away from?

The only thing I have to say is Memorex is JUNK! I have never had a Memorex product that worked properly (even a mouse). I think any of those other brands should be fine. BTW, brand name does mater IMO.

True, you do have a point. I guess if it works then it doesn't really matter what company made it.

MWink...

To be honest I've never used anything made by memorex so I can't say anything bad about them, but I have been burned by other brand names in the past.

I have had a CDROM that was absolute crap, but I have also had CDRs that were Memorex that worked great. Don't get a CDROM from Memorex!
