Does brand matter with integrated wireless notebook cards?

I don't really know where to put this but I'm ask here since its a pretty general question. I have a Dell E1505 laptop which has an Intel 3950 wireless card, if I swap it out for another type, will i notice a difference in performance?

I ask because I'm interested in making a HackbookPro but so far the 3950 doesn't work...

No difference in performance at all, probably slightly different drivers. I bet £10 that Dell don't even make their wireless cards, it's probably OEM'd from Foxconn or someone else.

Likewise, it is all about who made the actual chip inside which will determine any (if any) performance difference.

Are you sure it is a card (removable circuit board) or merely cjhips sopldered on to the mobo?
