You are correct, I guess. However, BL3 just seems unbalanced between the number of legendary drops and the ones that are actually useful. In previous games, it was exciting to get a legendary drop, because they were quite rare, and usually very powerful. In BL3, legendaries drop like flies, but only a very few of them are useful at higher mayhem levels. On top of having to get the right weapon, you also have to farm for good anointment.
Spot on. The anointments have definitely ruined the balance in BL3. They should have stuck to the BL2 formula, imo. Less is more. RNG factor largely at play here way too often and people don't want to spend thousands of hours grinding the gun they want, especially after mayhem 2.0. I have a few friends that have stopped playing the game because of that.

So? They have penalized solo players in all the games, not just BL3? I would agree with that.
The point remains that solo players pay just as much for the game as anyone else, so why should the game be designed to penalize them?

Good question, certainly the challenges that offer the option of single or multiplayer are just too difficult in solo.

This too, I've spend most of my guardian tokens try to get better loot drops, seems like I get some more, but vast % are worse than the weapons I already have (Mayhem 3).

as a 99% solo player in all BL games, I agree. I don't mind the focus being on balancing towards co-op play, as that is a big part of these games, but even the end game stuff has never been made impossible for solo players....just very very difficult at times (or not; depending on cheesy, sometimes broken builds and gear. but whatever--to me that's a reward for playing around with the mechanics to make solo farming possible)
Well, that's part of the game playing on the highest difficulty, finding gear/builds thats broken, lol. Isn't that fun? Maybe not, but again, you're not forced to play at those settings. After BL2 UVHM I've definitely had enough, lol. But pimpernel glitch was fun, nonetheless. There also was a community patch for BL2 trying to fix some of those issues but I never tried it.

So I don't really care how difficult OP 8 (or now 10?) got to be with BL2 and whatever Mayhem 10 is now, it's not really something that you have to do.
Yep, my point exactly.

I haven't logged back in since DLC3, level cap, Mayhem 2.0, point-2 or whatever the fix would call it, but maybe soon. I really liked DLC2 map and story. ...not sure about DLC1. It had good gear, but the map was just bland, typical BL stuff (not the worst thing for me, just felt like a longer version of that whole Killavolt side quest)
I've enjoyed the Casino DLC and all of its side quests, the colors really popped out in this one and the return of the robots was a breath of fresh air. One of the things I have really enjoyed in BL2 was a variety of different enemies and scenery. Not perfect, but better than that duo of streamers, lol. After the latest patch/hotfix I lost the ability to benchmark my system, weird.

I haven't played it yet, but I've heard it's a very decent part. I think I'll try to play it in a couple of days

I kind of stopped after 10 hours into it. Same old stuff from BL2 except writing/humor just isn't as funny and their novelty humor wore off.

Man I paid full price for it too. I haven't touched it over a year.

I resumed playing the game now after i played others, the gameplay is actually very fun it's very similar to BL2 but little improvement over 2nd, like now you have a huge variety of different guns. The only problem is the story. I don't even know what the story is, i don't pay attention to it, it is just so terrible.
The villains and enemies are bad too, BL2 enemies were more fun, like Goliaths

Hmm, I seem stuck at level 60. As I get more XP it just rolls over w/o changing my level. Others have mentioned higher levels - is this DLC only?

No, sixty is the current level cap, raised from 57 with the release of the 3rd DLC. After level 60, you can still earn guardian tokens, but no more XP.
One more DLC will be released, but I dont know if they will further raise the level cap with it.

this 100%. But, the released DLCs are quite good, goliaths are back at least in the Casino DLC. Try it, if you ever get around to it again.

likely by another 3 levels, they want to keep gamers engaged :)

It would be nice if the introduced a new playable character along with the level cap increases.

BTW, looks like Gearbox made one of their usual gaffes with the last patch. It seems that when they introduced mayhem scaling for additional items with the last patch they also introduced mayhem scaling for enemy weapons, which was "unintended". Way to go. Dont they understand their own game engine or play test the patches before they put them out?
I didnt notice much difference with Amara in the new DLC, because she has so much life stealing ability. However, my Moze seems to get one shotted now from even mid level enemies.

..or is it all just made of suck ?

I'm currently on level 12 and i had to resist the urge to uninstall the game.

I just recently started playing and have also reached level 12. Everything seems like a chore in this game. Whatever fun there is to be found is muted by a lousy UI and poor game design choices.

I will probably level up a bit more and at least play until I despise Sanctuary a little less but unless something changes quickly, I doubt I will finish my first playthrough.

The endgame content is somewhat better now. They have balanced and re balanced the mayhem scaling so that a lot of weapons are more effective. The third expansion, Bounty of Blood was my least favorite in terms of content, but I was able to get drops of several pistols that are reasonably effective on mayhem 7. All 3 of the DLC have a better story than the main game.

A bit of a follow up with a definitive answer to the OP's question…"does Borderlands 3 get good?"

No, it doesn't get good. Two words for you…jumping puzzles. I am tapping out, there are other games I can play. Maybe I will go back to it at some point but I doubt it.

I was not really bothered by the jumping in BL3 (well, except for those rocks you were supposed to jump on when fighting the scholar guy). I just skipped that and waited for him to get back to the main arena.

I did however hate the O2 boosted jumps in TPS. In addition to simply being used too much, I could never get the timing right, so when I wanted to do the O2 boost, I just pounded space bar as fast as I could. Double jumping (mantling) works much better in BL3. I consider TPS as a platformer with gunplay added, while the rest of the Borderlands games are shooters with occasional jumping.

Getting excited for the final DLC today. Krieg was never my favorite character (I suck at melee), but will be happy with some new content. Somewhat mixed feelings about the 5 level cap increase though.

do you not think that that's a bit of a problem?
...that's like every Bordlerlands game, though. All of them, so it's pretty much expected that DLC is where it really shines.

That being said, yes, BL3 is much, much better with the DLC. 2 and 3 in particular. I haven't played the one released today yet, though, but it's KRIEG so should be awesome.

THe first one wasn't bad, I'm just kinda tired of that Hyperion/space station setting and loaders and stuff.

Yeah, it was the scholar guy that set me off. However, I didn't realize you could simply wait for him to return to the main area. Maybe I will give it a second look.

I have to admit, my anger at jumping puzzles borders on the irrational. It is not that I am particularly bad at them, it is just that I see absolutely no point in them. I refuse to believe they ever made a FPS more entertaining. :)

I hate jumping puzzles, too. The Scholar was the only thing in the game that I recall being a jumping puzzle, and yeah, it annoyed me. well...the 2nd or 3rd time I played through with whatever toon, suddenly I couldn't get the jumps...it was so pathetic. Breeze first time through, next one was me tossing the keyboard at the wall angry. (not really, but I wanted to)

Yea, he eventually comes back to the main arena, but he has more time to regenerate health and shields. If you stand in the right place you can destroy some of the stones regenerating his shields from the main area.

Anybody playing the new DLC yet? I dont really care for it so far. I think one would enjoy it more if you were drunk or on drugs. It is just kind of over the top crazy, like one would expect from Krieg.

I don't know why it didn't occur to me right away but I eventually went and checked out some YouTube videos on this boss and discovered you can get an angle on most of those crystals and destroy them from the main area…no jumping required. Armed with that info, he wasn't too bad.

If you don't like jumping, don't do Takedown at the Guardian Breach.

I gave up on that when I had to activate all 3 gates simultaneously. I play solo, and it is almost impossible.
