Does blockbuster make you take a drug test?

when minimum wage jobs start drug testing is the day that I.. i dont know.

they wouldnt have much for employees if they did though 😛

I took 6 over the length of my HD stint. I hope thet require them everywhere. It iwll say on the ap.

i would *hope* so, but by the looks of some of their employees i highly doubt it.

I hope thet require them everywhere.

oh yeah, i hope they start testing everywhere, that would be great. and while they're at it, they should install video camaras in our homes to make sure we don't look at pornography or rent videos from Hollywood Video. :disgust: what country did you guys come from, the USSR? what employees do in their own time is none of a employer's buisness. the only thing that is their buisness or yours as the customer is their performance on the job. if they don't perform (whether because of drug problems, mental problems, laziness, incompetence, etc) then they can be fired, but even if an employee isn't performing, the reasons are none of the employer's buisness.

The Blockbuster I worked at required both a hair test and urine test and also had random samples.

Lol, no. Just horrable spelling. It means, I had to take 6 drug tests during the time I was employed by Home Depot. I wish everywhere required drug tests. It will say on your application if there is a drug test.

Why?

Exactly.
I don't see how making sure employees don't smoke out on the weekends is going to make them more effective.
I've worked with plenty of people who do drugs yet continute to perform better than their peers.

Insurance companies are behind the drug testing. They offer employers steep discounts if they do it..

The only prob is that 9/10 of the people who would work in those positions would do it there also.

I rent movies there all of the time. They've never made me take a drug test. All they want is your membership card and money. You'll be fine. 😉

I hope so. I don't want some idiot druggie to have access to my account. He'll probably steal money to pay for his next fix. What ever happened to Zero Tolorance? :|

I drive a semi full of hazardous freight that includes Radioactive isotopes and waste and Explosives. Guess if I drop acid on my break it's ok with you?

Get your head out of your a$$!

Get yours out of your own.

If you knew anything about acid you'd know it will have no effect on you after it wears off, at least in terms of being able to operate machinery. And like I say, it's all about performance on the job. Obviously if you come to work high or a moron from being high too much you're not fit for the job and should be fired, same as anyone else. And you can't drop acid "on break." It takes 8 hours to wear off, and you'd be in no condition to drive in the meantime. But if you dropped acid Saturday night, you'd be ready to hit the road on Monday morning same as anyone else.

Obviously what employees do on company property is the company's buisness. And if you operate machinery while high you're not only going to get fired, you're going to face criminal charges. But if you don't come to work high and your job performance is fine, then it's none of their buisness.

the straight edge guy who works the next shift might need to pay for his next car mod, too.

or a drunk who needs the money to buy booze, but oops, they don't test for that. or for the single mom waitress who needs to pay the rent and takes your credit card off to charge your dinner but writes down your info before she returns it (happened to a friend, caught her in the act).

credit cards offer theft protection for this, just the same as if you lost your wallet. your credit card number is exposed to people to steal everyday, every time you buy something online, everytime you eat at a resturant, etc, etc. some of those people are going to be bad and it's not going to have anything to do with whether they take drugs.

I was a manager for a smaller independent company a few years back where the owner smoked weed regularly and was an extremely successful multi-millionaire at 30.
Too many brainwashed morons on this board, I swear. What's next, Evadman? Make everyone take a piss test for the government every morning but don't bother to teach kids how to spell?

very well said.

Nobody's forcing anyone to do anything. You want to work for a company that does drug testing, quit doing drugs. You don't want to quit doing drugs then don't bother applying. The companies don't owe you a thing, certainly not a job. Meet the terms of employment or take a walk.

It always amazes me that people will take a blood or pee test and let someone look at the most innermost secrets of your innards and would have a fit if they asked to search your car or wallet when arriving for work to make sure that you do not have any porn pictures or anything that might indicate you may be a sex pervert or a possible child molester.
