Does Blockbuster let you swap out DVDs if you get the wrong format by mistake?

I rented Shooter yesterday on DVD from Hollywood video and didn't notice that I grabbed the full screen version. I took it back to the store and explained my mistake and asked if I could just swap it for the widescreen version. Hollywood video said no, and that I would have to pay for the full widescreen version if I wanted to get it.

I don't think my request was unreasonable, and I'm kinda pissed about the whole deal. Anyone have any experience if blockbuster would let you swap a full screen version of a movie for a widescreen one a couple of hours after you rent it and notice your mistake? I'd rather not give Hollywood video any more of my business if they can't understand the value of a customer.

Blockbuster are generally more accomodating to their customers than HV.

You could have just took it back and said it didnt work in your DVD and wanted a replacement. That is ridiculous that they didnt let you exchange it.

Shooter is a good movie btw... Especially the part where he dies...

LOL Just kidding....

I watched it stretched on my widescreen tv. I thought it was a good movie, but rediculous that they wouldn't let me exchange it.

lots of people do that. i see that all the time and it bugs the hell out of me.

maybe he means zoomed. which would mean that he lost the sides and the top/bottom of the movie.

You tried to exchange it for widescreen, but then instead of watching it at the 4:3 aspect ratio, you stretched it? I'll never understand why people do that.. It doesn't give you more image, just makes it look bad

Next time take the dvd put it on the ground. Put you foot on it and scratch the hell out of it. Then return it and get the widescreen version.

Except for the fact that they know which DVD I rented and would charge me for destroying it.

I can't wait to see shooter.

And, OP I would have asked to see the manager and started raising a ruckus until they gave me a replacement.
