Does bitcasa need to be updated?

Hi everyone. I have a free Bitcasa account, and got an E-mail today that I have to sign in and migrate my account to their new software or it all my files will be deleted Nov. 15. Is this a legit request, or just someone phishing for my login credentials? There are a few posts on the internet, and it seems real, but it just makes me wonder.
 
Got the same email too. Shouldn't they move the data to their new servers (if that's what they are doing) and update their software automatically? I will not do anything, let my account expire, unistall their software and my stuff is also in other sites. It doesn't sound like a proffessional handling of the situation.
 
Would you not be better off contacting them directly to authenticate this instead of asking a random forum?
