eh then that pretty much defeats the purpose of them. why would i want to raincheck an item if it wasn't on sale?

yeah, well i've always figured that sales are meant to either get rid of stock or get let things be first come first serve. f they dont get what they want, they'd look around some more for something else. if they could just get rainchecks for sale items, it sorta defeats the whole purpose of it for the store itself... i dunno lol

Don't most states have some kind of a law that requires stores to have "sufficient stock to meet the expected demand" on sale items. That's what rain-checks are for - if they run out, they obviously didn't have "stock suffiecient...".
