I recently ordered a the 1640 DVD burner of theirs and I'm contemplating their FP72G+S 17" LCD display.

I've never owned any of their hardware, but I'd like to know if their stuff is any good. It's so much cheaper than anything else.

The one I'm looking at has an 8ms response time.

BenQ is basically Philips and/or LG Electronics. They use a lot of the same OEM stuff. Their DVD-Burners are rated as some of the best around, in fact the new Plextor Anand just reviewed is just a BenQ burner. So you made the right choice with that since its about half the cost of the Plextor. The NEC burners used to be better, or at least as good depending on who you talked to, but I think BenQ took the lead with the latest round. Their Projectors are awesome because I have one, and their LCDs are very good too. Some are better then others, the one your talking about is very good.

Overall they make some very good quality stuff.

their burners are trash, have fun playing the lottery and hoping you get a working unit that doesn't crap out in a month.

BenQ optical drives (DVD Burners in particular) are highly rated.

As for their monitors, I'm not sure perhaps searching the Hardware and Video forums would help?

They used to be Acer... and I didn't particularly care for their stuff... had a scanner that got replaced twice and still sucked. Maybe under the new brand name they've improved. I wouldn't give them another chance, personally.

BenQ is a subsidiary of Acer, so I'm guessing they use similar parts. The questions is, how good are Acer products?

6-bit panels or 8-bit panels? 6-bit will have color problems.

Had a Benq CDRW 2.5 years ago and was sh1t, sold on ebay with original packaging for almost $20. From what you guys say they are pretty good now, maybe give them another chance?

In contrary to what you guys said about ViewSonic and DELL I think their stuffs are junk (at least the LCD), had both brand at work along with others and they die / fade earlier than any other brand. Samsung was the bargain until everyone start jumping in to buy them, now they are just as expensive as Sony.

For the moment I will buy Benq like others said, seems like a good choice for the season.
