Does being on the phone with a girl count as keeping her company?

Ok..I've been on the phone with this female friend of mine, and for like 10 minutes now neither of us have said a word, but when I asked her if I could hang up she said definately not....

I don't get it...
Am I "keeping her company" by being on the phone with her even though we aren't talking?

Damn girls are weird...

Yeah. I do that lots... I'll be on the phone with a girl for 3 hours sometimes... the conversation usually dies after an hour (depending on the girl, i've talked about crap for up to 6 hours some how)...

women are weird that way.

lol
well
A) She called me
B) It's not like she's my GF...she has a BF, just a female friend.

WJB...nah I don't think. Her BF is out of town and she's lonely.
She's very loyal to him, we're just good friends.

Perhaps its not the company as much as the attention... "talking" on the phone without saying anything, you are giving her your attention (instead of the computer or someone else). Sometimes people who feel they don't get enough attention or appreciation try to get it in various ways.

same here. I've ended up having a six hour conversation in the middle of the night once to eyecandy. It's something about them just knowing you're there.

noriaki, yes you are. I had a friendship with a girl like yours (I've read your posts about her before) I can't do it anymore, can't sit on the phone with her for more than an hour, it bugs. It gets to the point where I can' find an excuse to get off the phone, that I grab my cell, call my phone and say that it's for someone else. I do this with a crazy ex too...I'm sick of spending time on the phone with women. If they want to hang out, cool, otherwise, I'm not staying on the phone. I used to be a phone bitch. I'd be on with the friend or the gf for hours on end...I'm done with that.

late.

BlueHeelers...I guess it might be that.
But she knows I'm typing on here and IRC...
And she's playing GT3 on her end.

FFMCobalt...but isn't that your girlfriend?
This girl is just a friend.

Oh hahahah no this isn't that girl I have a crush on :)
If it was her I'd be devoting all my attention to her.
This is just another girl ;)

You are obviously not a true man. Any "real" man can pretend to be listening to a woman, but in reality they are not giving the women any attention at all. Just nod your head and say "yes" occasionaly. ;)

I just call it compainable silence. I think it can only be achieved with someone you trust. Other wise you just get too uncomfortable. Relax enjoy the moment and if ya like her go with it. Even as friends is just shows that you really are her friend. And who knows maybe the boyfriend is on his way out of her life, and you may just be able to step in the doorway he is leaving.
