Does being able to swap smart phone hardware appeal to you?

While looking at teardown pics of iphone I have noticed how simple the hardware is.

The CPU, memory, NAND flash storage and various other chips are all on one little PCB.

If these mainboards were sold separately wouldn't it make upgrading to a higher level smartphone (provided the person liked the phones existing battery, screen,etc) very easy?
 
Cellphone hardware is NOT simple. Everything is specially made to work together and made to work within voltage parameters. You can't just easily swap out things like that. Integrated electronics are not made to be that way. Obviously if you have a high knowledge of this stuff you could be doing it already.
