I'm having a debate about wheter beer freezes and instead of risking a glass bottle ruining my day i'll just see what you folks have to say. Also, we were wondering why beer coems in glass bottles and soda coems in plastic bottles, other than aesthetic reasons

Not in a regular freezer.

The water in the beer might freeze, but the alcohol won't.

if you leave a beer in the freezer too long, it explodes and makes a mess. then all you have is beer slush and that ain't cool.

It depends on the beer. Some beers will never freeze in an ordinary freezer (Molson XXX has never came out frozen on me), while some beers will almost always freeze in a freezer (Budweiser for example).

To prevent explosion, simply open the beer and take a few sips (to prevent overflow). Then cut the top off with a can opener and put the can in the freezer. I used to do this with soda to get slushies.

Left a few beers in my friend's freezer and totally forgot about them. He found them the next morning, after they exploded in his fridge. Didn't get upset either, we were all pretty fvcked up the night before.
